Gradual Release Model - "I do, You do, We do!"
Scaffolded instruction, or the gradual release model, is broadly recognized as a successful approach for moving classroom instruction from teacher-centered, wholegroup delivery to student-centered collaboration and independent practice. Sometimes referred to as “I do it, we do it,you do it,” this model proposes a plan of instruction that includes demonstration, prompt, and practice. Your children (my students) will never be given a task that isn't modeled first, especially at this age. I will gradually release them to do a task independently when I know they are ready to complete it on their own. Using this model does not set your child up for failure, it sets them up for success.
